CONTEMPORARY CHURCH MINISTRY

Course overview

“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.”

Acts 20:28

The call of church ministry is not one to be taken lightly, but to be taken with a great sense of responsibility, care and dedication to God and His Kingdom. This course is ideal for those in any form of church ministry or leadership, either at an experienced level or just starting out. Equipping yourself for church ministry is not only needed for your own practice but also for the people you serve, and studying this course will be transformational here. As you look at the fundamentals of ministry and gain skills that will enable you to minister more effectively, you will also be learning alongside others in similar positions to you.

The challenges of today’s world are ever-changing and the needs of people are often complex, making the work of church ministers essential but at times difficult. By studying Contemporary Ministry, you will grow in confidence and ability to minister in your setting in a way that changes lives and honours God. Totally online and helpfully part-time, this course is perfect for those wanting to study around their ministry commitments and use what they learn to impact their practice during the course and beyond.

On completion of the course, students can apply to become an accredited Waverley Abbey Minister. This is a partnership between Waverley Abbey Ministries and Churches in Communities. The application is a separate discernment process after the course. It will assess the student’s experience and learning to date, which could lead to ordination after a successful post-graduation year in ministry.
